Billy Ray (Bill) Logan, 82, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away Monday, November 12, 2018, peacefully after a brief but challenging battle with cancer.
Mr. Logan was born June 5, 1936, in Yadkin County, NC, the oldest of four children, to his late parents Fred Rufus Logan and Callie Lineberry Logan. He is survived by his only daughter and son-in-law, Crystal Dawn Logan Tatman and James Roger (Sam) Tatman and grandchildren Sean Christian Tatman and Brittany Faith Tatman of Lexington, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie Frank Logan and wife June of Kernersville, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Dallas Rufus Logan and wife Kathleen of Monroe, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife and daughter’s mother, Evelyn Robertson Logan and his sister Callie Mae Logan Grubbs.
Mr. Logan was retired from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts after nearly 30 years of dedicated service where he was fondly known by students, faculty and staff as simply “Logan.” Following retirement and prior to his illness, he worked part-time for the Roger L. Stevens Center for the last 20 years.
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 at 2:00pm at Friedberg Moravian Church, 2178 Friedberg Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC with the Rev. Jim Newsome and Rev. Dan Nelson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care or to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts Foundation.
