Billy Joe Mccrary

Billy Joe McCrary age 77 of Lexington, passed away early Saturday, at his residence surrounded by his family after an illness of 8 months. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Bethesda United Methodist Church where he was a member conducted by Rev. Dennis Marshall. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 6-8 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel. Billy was born April 28, 1934 in Davidson County to C.C. and Selma Wagner McCrary. He was retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He loved to spend time with his family and also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, one brother, and one sister. Surviving Billy are his wife Sarah Yokely McCrary of the home; two sons, Keith McCrary and wife Janice of Winston-Salem, and Ricky McCrary and wife Kendell of Lexington ; four grandchildren, Ross McCrary and wife Victoria of Winston-Salem, Stacey Wilson and husband Josh of Thomasville, Josey McCrary of Lexington, and PFC Britany McCrary of Fort Bragg, N.C.; one great-grandson Benjamin Wilson of Thomasville; two brothers J.B. McCrary and wife Zelma, and Claude McCrary both of Lexington; one sister Jewell McDade and husband Carroll of Lexington. The family request that memorials be sent to Bethesda United Methodist Bus Fund 2922 Bethesda Road, Lexington, N.C. 27295 or Hospice of Davidson County 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, N.C. 27292. The family wishes to thank Dr. Gerald Fromson for all the care and compassion he has shown to Billy over the years.
