Billy Thomas Myers, 88 of Crews Lake Rd., Lexington passed away Thursday November 13th in Hinkle Hospice House. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM November 16th at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Kip McBride and full military rites will follow the service by Davidson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the residence. Mr. Myers was born in Davidson County on December 15, 1925 to Roy Clifford Myers and Mattie Fritts Myers. He was retired from Davidson County Community College and was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. He received the Purple Heart for wounds he received proudly serving our country in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of Reeds American Legion Post and Lexington Memorial Lodge 473. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Creola McBride Myers and a brother Hoyle Myers. Surviving are his son, Bobby Myers (Helen) of Farmington; daughter Wanda Barnes (John) of Lexington; grandchildren, Lisa Whitaker; Brandon Myers; Wendy Gentrup; Travis Myers and Holly Weir; 13 great grandchildren ;brother Harold Myers of Welcome and special friend Mary Ella Giles of Lexington. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P. O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
