Birdie Dunn

Mrs. Birdie Barrett Dunn, 92, of W. Fourth Avenue, Lexington, and formerly of Halifax, NC died Friday at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 29, at the Enfield Town Cemetery in Enfield, NC by the Rev. Billy P. Howell. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 PM Monday at Halifax Baptist Church, 131 Prussia Street in Halifax, NC. Mrs. Dunn was born August 4, 1917 in Richland County, SC to William Watson Barrett and Eva Clarice Leagan Barrett. She was a homemaker and a member of Halifax Baptist Church. Her husband, R. L. Dunn, Jr., preceded her in death, as well as her brother, Warren G. Barrett, a sister, Mary Andrews and a step-brother, Daniel Levy Keeter. She is survived by her sons, Richard Leon Dunn, III and wife, Deborah Bundy Dunn of Clayton, and David Barrett Dunn, and wife, Julia Wall Dunn, of Lexington; her daughter, Shirley Anne Dunn of Snow Hill; her sisters, Helen Barrett Snow of Greensboro, and Julia Barrett Chaplin of Summerville, SC; her grandchildren, Lee Dunn, Greyson Briere and husband, Michael, Barrett Dunn, Macon Dunn, and Brittain Dunn; and her great granddaughter, Raeglin Briere. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Halifax Baptist Church, PO Box 445, Halifax, NC 27839 or to Easter Seals UCP Group Home, 704 S.E. Second Street, Snow Hill, NC 28580.
