Bob Bruton

Alvis Bobby “Bob” Bruton, 87 of Lexington, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2020 at his home.

A private inurnment will be held at Shiloh United Methodist Church

Bob was born on May 17, 1933 in Lumberton, NC to Alvis Burns Bruton and Lillian Deaton Bruton.  As a Scoutmaster of Troop 221, he dedicated over 50 years of his life with the Boy Scouts of America.  Bob proudly served in the United States Army.  He taught at both Lexington City and Davidson County Schools, and retired from Young Hinkle Furniture.  He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Methodist Men’s group.  Bob was involved in his community and was very active in community sports with Lexington Recreation little league football and coached varsity girls’ basketball at Ledford.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Brenda Koonts Bruton, of the home; son, Scott Dean Bruton (Cheryl) of Troutman; daughters, Crystal Dawn Young (Steve) of Mooresville, Tracy Dyhan Nunn (Mike) of Lexington; and 6 grandchildren, Prath Bruton, Tyler Bruton, Brandon Young (Alyssa), Kasey Young, Ryan Nunn and Olivia Nunn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to BSA Troop 221 in c/o Shiloh United Methodist Church or the Shiloh United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 943-NC 150, Lexington, NC 27295.
