Bobbie Hinkle

February 26, 1925 — December 12, 2015

Bobbie Gwendolyn Hinkle, age 90, passed away peacefully at Hinkle Hospice House, Saturday, December 12, 2015. Per her request, no funeral service will be held. Friends are invited for a casual celebration of life and visitation Saturday, December 19, 2015, from 2-5 PM at the home of Ted and Tricia Royster, 400 Maegeo Drive. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Bobbie was born in Lexington, NC, February 26, 1925 to Frank Bain and Eunice Hinkle. She graduated from Lexington Senior High School in 1942 and Ashmore Business College. She spent a long career as a book-keeper for Byrd Motor Lines, Ilderton Dodge, Westchester Academy, and WXII. After retirement, she continued to work part-time at Rite Aide, enjoying seeing old friends and assisting the “elderly.” She was an expert knitter and enjoyed teaching knitting to friends and family. Gardening was her passion and she continued to garden with her Boston Terrier companion, Muffie, while quite ill. Bobbie was of the Methodist faith and a member of Mount Carmel Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Clafton Leonard, and former husband, C. Hubert Berrier. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Berrier Royster and husband Ted, of Lexington, and son Frank Berrier and wife Judy of Mina, Nevada. Bobbie was blessed with six grandchildren: Courtney Bui and husband Thi of Raleigh, NC, Allison West and husband Jay of Baltimore, MD, Brian Lewis and wife, Doah of Asheville, NC, James Berrier of Jacksonville, FL, Senior Master Sergeant Robert Berrier and wife Shannon of Ramstein AFB, Germany, Nicky Talley and husband Donovan of Conway AK. Also surviving are, two step-grandchildren, Tad Royster and wife Candice of Winston-Salem and James Royster and wife Raquel of Pawley’s Island, SC. Bobbie leaves 11 great grandchildren. whom she adored. She is also survived by her favorite niece, Janice Hayes and husband, Johnny and great nephew Jason Hayes and wife, Anna of Lexington and great niece, Julie Siebert and husband John of Raleigh. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lexington Church of Christ, 1330 Piedmont Drive, Lexington, NC 27295, Carolina Senior Care, 802 E. Center Street, Lexington, NC 27292, or the Empty Stocking Fund. The family would like to express gratitude to the members of Lexington Church of Christ for their support as well as the excellent staff at Carolina Senior Care and Hospice of Davidson County who made her transition less difficult.
