Bobby Gene Burns Sr., 62, of Bridge Street, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at his home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Rev. Gary Gibson. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Burns was born Sept. 26, 1943, in Lee County to Royce Milton Burns and Stella Rosa Whitfield Burns. He was self-employed and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eddie Burns. Surviving are his wife, Joanne Hunkler Burns of the home; five sons, Ricky Dean Burns of Greensboro, Bobby Gene Burns Jr. of Ohio, Gary Nathan Burns of Linwood and Christopher Brian Burns and William Ryan Burns, both of Lexington; two daughters, Kimberly Burns Dalton of Welcome and Lisa Burns Grubb of Lexington; 13 grandchildren, Jarrett, Amanda and Ashly Russell, Preston Dalton, Brandon, Christian and Joshua Burns, Alisa Grubb, Justin, Cody and Nathan Burns, Chasity Burns and William "Will" Burns; one brother, Clyde Graves Burns of Greensboro; and three sisters, twin sister Shelby Jean Lucas and Sankie Katholine Sports, both of Greensboro, and Francis Pauline Johnson of Colfax. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice. .
