Bobby M. Byerly, Sr.

July 28, 1932 — July 8, 2018

Bobby Mathias Byerly, Sr. age 85 of Linwood Southmont Road, Lexington formerly of Winston Road went home to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the home of his daughter.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Freedom Baptist Church with Pastor Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery with Military Honors given by Davidson County Honor Guard and Army National Guard.

The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday night and at other times at the home of his daughter.

Bobby was born in Davidson County on July 28, 1932 to Jacob Howard Byerly and Ruby Mae Shoe Byerly. He was a former employee of Coble Dairy driving a delivery truck, then at PPG. But his love was driving for Sunbeam Bread and making friends along the way. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good conduct Medal. He attended First Wesleyan Church and had served several offices at the church and taught Sunday School also. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy Crisco Byerly on August 4, 2003; sisters, Helen Ann Byerly and Doris Byerly Everhart and a special aunt, Ethel Dunn.

Surviving are a daughter, Cathy Byerly Ampuero (Daniel) of Lexington; son, Bobby M. Byerly, Jr. and Renee Byerly of Lexington; grandchildren, Kenneth Bullabough, Jr. of Lexington, Kevin and Kristy Bullabough of Lexington, Willis Bullabough of Hickory, Victoria “Tori” Byerly of Lexington and Alexandra “Allie” Byerly of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Breanna, Cheyenne, Chase and Brandon Bullabough and Tyson Payne all of Lexington; sister, Virgie Everhart (Phillip) of Lexington; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Blake Everhart of Lexington.
