Bobby Eugene Dowell

Bobby Eugene Dowell 78, of Wyandotte Avenue passed away Monday, December 7, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home only after a short illness. A funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Friday, December 11, 2009 at Glory Road Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. Mr. Dowell was born September 22, 1931 to John Nathan Dowell, Sr. and Lala Towell Dowell in Carroll County, VA. He was a Veteran in the US Army and retired from RJR. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia; three brothers, Clinton, Frank and Nathan Dowell and one sister, Jenny Brown. Surviving are two sons, Jeff Dowell and wife Donna, Ricky Dowell and wife Janet all of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Sam Dowell and wife Faye of MD, R L Dowell and wife Evelyn of VA; two sisters; Arlene Surratt of VA and Marlene and husband Robert Clifton of King; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Dowell, Jr. and wife Katie, Kristin Dowell and one great-grandchild, Joshua Dowell; three special friends, Shirley, Blake and Anita. There will be a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday night at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel.
