Bobby George Lanier, 78, a resident of Lexington, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 19, 2022. He was born in Davie County on February 7, 1944 to the late Ray Holt Sr. and Annie Bailey Lanier. Bobby owned and operated his own masonry business for many years. He was a family man who loved helping others. Bobby enjoyed fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family and church family. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Welcome where he was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the men’s bible study, and the Methodist Men. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Waters; brothers, Eddie, Ray Holt, Jr., June, Don, Horace, Carlyle, and Jerry Lanier; and a sister, Cathy Lanier.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 3:00 PM in Bethesda United Methodist Church Family Life Center with Rev. Rick Lebaube officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 1:30. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Davidson Funeral Home in Winston-Salem is assisting the family.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Tonya Lanier of the home; brothers, Tony Lanier and Keith Lanier (Trish); sisters, Betty Robbins (Jerry), Rita Motsinger, and Ronda Wilson; brother-in-law, Jonathan Hawkins (Christine and children); special nephews, Alex Martin and Ricky Lanier; numerous nephews and nieces; and special K-9 companions, Sparky and Ginger.
