Bobby Lee Rogers

Bobby Lee Rogers, 88 of Lexington, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, December 3 rd in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Surratt officiating.  The service will be streamed live at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeral.funeralhome Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, attendees are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Mr. Rogers was born on September 12, 1932 in Rowan County to McRae and Mary Earnhardt Rogers.  He was retired owner of Select Auto Sales.  At his church he was a charter member of the SCO Burkhart Sunday School Class.  During his tenure, he had served as Superintendent of the Young Adult, Department Secretary of the Sunday School office, deacon and under shepherd and church usher.  He was dedicated in keeping the sanctuary in order, assisting in funerals and securing the building after all church services.  He enjoyed helping make Brunswick stew with his Sunday school class as fund raisers for many years and helping prepare the Young at Heart Senior Meals.  Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Phyllis Weaver Rogers with whom he was married for 56 years, and son, Jeffrey Lee Rogers and sister, Sara Varner.

Left to cherish his memory are Shirley Weaver; daughters, Jan Cone and  husband Clayton of Lexington, Angie Rogers and Christie Dunning of Trinity; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Cone of Lexington, Rachel Cone Dionne and husband Justin of Florida; great-granddaughter, Vivianne Leigh Dionne; brothers, Charles Rogers “Sonny” and wife Swannie, Tommy Rogers and wife Barbara; brother-in-law Barry Varner, all of Lexington; brother, Ronald “Chub” Rogers and wife Kaye, of Wallburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Second United Church of Christ, 330 N. Church Street, Lexington, NC 27292.
