Bobby Eugene Sechrest, 92, of Lexington, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on September 14, 1933, Bobby was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ruth Woodward Sechrest; his daughter, Debbie Ruth Sink; and his son, Donnie Eugene Sechrest.

He is survived by his six grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Joe Sechrest, and his wife, Becky; his brother, Wayne Sechrest, and his wife, Doris; his sister-in-law, Barbara Sechrest; and many other family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

He and his wife were blessed with 67 years of marriage. Bobby had a passion for life that carried him through even his toughest days. He was strong in his faith, loved the Lord, and was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Lexington.

He met his wife, Mary, while working at the Dacotah Cotton Mill in Lexington, beginning a love story that would last throughout the years. He later worked at Young and Hinkle (Lexington Furniture), where he dedicated 25 years as a supervisor before retiring.

In his younger years, Bobby had a great love for music and played electric guitar in local bands. He even had the opportunity to play on television and radio. Those years brought him many wonderful experiences and lasting memories.

He also loved the outdoors, especially fishing. Many happy days were spent at the lake with family. In 1989, he and Mary bought a beach house in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, beginning many wonderful years of making memories by the ocean. They would often spend months at a time there, and the beach remained one of his favorite places. He would be home for Christmas though. For he loved decorating his whole house inside and out and enjoyed hosting Christmas parties.

In his later years, his mornings were often spent at Biscuit King, where what began as a simple morning visit became a cherished daily tradition. He made friends there and enjoyed the conversations, laughter, and companionship that became such an important part of his everyday life.

He will be remembered as a magnetic extrovert. He had a warmth and charisma that made people want to be around him. He enjoyed the spotlight and loved making people laugh. He loved meeting and talking with people.

He will also be remembered for his kind heart and his love for his wife, Mary; his family; music; fishing; the beach; the Braves; and the simple pleasure of spending time with good friends. He lived a life filled with memories, and his greatest legacy will be the love he gave and the lives he touched.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 14, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.

His brother, Pastor Wayne Sechrest, will officiate the funeral service. Pastor Mason Todd will perform the committal service. Entombment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Biscuit King on #8 in Lexington and to the many friends he made there. They would also like to thank the staff at Lexington Hospital and Abbotts Creek Center for always taking such good care of him and treating him like family. Bobby was very appreciative of their kindness and loved them all.
