Bobby Ray Sweatt age 77 of Lexington, husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center after a lengthy illness of 14 years. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 31 at Reedy Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Egbert Craven, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree and other times at the home.
Bobby was born on July 29, 1933 in Davidson County to Samuel Lloyd Sweatt and Martha Jewell Parks Sweatt. He was owner and operator of Arcadia Nursery and served in the US Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Joann Lanning.
Surviving are his wife Joanne Byerly Sweatt of the home; two daughters, Tammy S. Reavis and Angie R. Sweatt; one son, Bobby Dean Sweatt and wife Kathleen all of Lexington; two grandchildren, Bobby Dean Sweatt II and Dorianne Sweatt Yokeley and a great-grandson, David Beck.
Memorials may be made to Reedy Creek Baptist Church, Building Fund, 600 Reedy Creek Baptist Church Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
