Bobby Townsend

Bobby Townsend, 76, of Price Road, died unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, after a short-term illness at High Point Regional Hospital. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. Danny Sams. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Townsend was born in Danville, Va., on Jan. 24, 1930, to Frank Townsend and Virginia Perdue Townsend Lord. Before retirement he was owner of Townsend Masonry. He was also a member of the Lexington National Guard. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Eddie "Tiger" Bates Jr.; a son-in-law, Ben Latham; two brothers, Tony Townsend Sr. and Eugene Townsend; one sister, Virginia T. Hinkle; and his stepfather, L.G. Lord. Surviving are his wife, Lois Everhart Townsend of the home; one son, Danny W. Townsend and his wife, Gail, of Lexington; three daughters, Sylvia Darnell and her husband, Danny, Kathy Troutman and her husband, David, and Susan Latham, all of Lexington; six grandchildren, Tina Troutman and her fiancé, Chris Alley, of Lexington, Jason Townsend and his wife, Barbara, of Utah, Shawn Burkhart of Louisiana, and Jeffrey Townsend and his special friend, Rachel Morris, Tricia Gaskell and her husband, Andy, and Leslie Chrisler and her husband, Patrick, all of Lexington; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Richmond Townsend and Cleveland Townsend, all of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Wednesday at the home at 409 Price Road.
