Bobby Dwight Wood

Bobby Dwight Wood, age 82, of Happy Hollow Court, Lexington passed away suddenly Wednesday at his home. A funeral service will be 2 pm Saturday February 23, 2013, at Reeds United Methodist Church, where he was a lifelong member, conducted by Pastor Gary Foster. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by Davidson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 pm prior to the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the home. Mr. Wood was born February 16, 1931, in Davidson County, to Dwight L. Wood and Ruth Meacham Wood. He was a retired salesman with Sears, with 31 years of service. He honorably served his country in The U.S. Air Force during The Korean War. He also was a member of VFW 3074, Amvets Post 13 and American Legion for over 60 years He is a graduate of Reeds High School and Ashmore Business College. He also served on the Davidson County Rescue Squad for over 28 years and as Captain for 12 years. His parents and a son in law, Glenn William Huffman preceded him in death Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Williford Wood, of the home; two daughters, Beverly Wood Huffman and Bonnie Ruth Wood both of Lexington; three Grandchildren , Damon William Huffman and wife Joy, Jason Dwight Huffman and Ashley Jean Swiney all of Lexington; five great-grandchildren, McKenzie Huffman, Grace Huffman, Isaac Huffman, Anderson Huffman and Jayce Huffman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Reeds United Methodist Church, 4731 West Old Highway 64, Lexington, NC 27295.
