Bonnie Byerly

Bonnie Evon Swicegood Byerly, 84, of Michael Road, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member, by the Rev. Eddie Pless. Burial will follow in Sandy Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Byerly was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Davidson County to Henry Edward Swicegood and Bertha Lou Shoaf Swicegood. She was married to Edward Leonard Byerly, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were five brothers, Edward Swicegood, Holman Swicegood, Ted Swicegood, Archie Swicegood and Sigman Swicegood, and five sisters, Eura Fritts, Lennie Smith, Marjalene Sharpe, Lemma Warfford and Emma Moorse. Surviving are a daughter, Kay Myers of Lexington; two grandchildren, Carla Meissner and her husband, Mark, and Charles Myers and his wife, Lisa; five great-grandchildren, Chip Myers, Kevin Myers, Mallory Meissner, Ashley Meissner and Kelsey Meissner; and a brother, Tom Swicegood of Lexington. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday before the service. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 4299 S. N.C. Highway 150, Lexington, NC 27295, or a charity of the donor's choice. A special thanks to Sandy Hampton, who was Mrs. Byerly's home health nurse for the past several years. Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is handling the arrangements.
