Mrs. Bonnie Jean Buie Byerly, 90, of Snider Road, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Smith Grove Baptist Church, with Pastor Terry Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Byerly was born on July 1, 1935, in Davie County, to the late Walter Ray and Ester Maie Fleming Buie.

She graduated from Churchland High School and later retired from Duracell Battery. Mrs. Byerly was a longtime member of Smith Grove Baptist Church delivered Meals on Wheels for 15 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and always loved her church family. Mrs. Byerly will be remembered as a loving wife, sister, and friend to many.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Byerly, Jr.; and her siblings, Dot Money (Floyd), Nell Vanhoy (Woodrow), Bill Buie (Dot), Henry Lee Buie (Peggy), Donald Buie (Lou), and Terry Buie.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Sue Buie; grandchildren, Anna Scott (Trey) and Holly Leffew (William); and great-granddaughter, Amelia Scott; and many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews; and great-great- nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Novant Health Hospice of Rowan County and to a very special friend and caregiver, Peggy Barrier, for the love, care, and support shown to Bonnie in her final days.
