Bonnie Joyner, 61, of Folly Beach, S.C. passed away on September 18, 2008 after a two-year battle with colon cancer. She died peacefully with her husband and children around her at her Mars Hill home.
Bonnie is returning to her childhood home where she will be laid to rest during a funeral service and burial at 3 p.m. on Monday, September 22 at Holly Grove Lutheran Church.
Bonnie was a dedicated mother and grandmother, devoted wife, award-winning artist, romance writer, art and science teacher, and office manager for her family's business. Bonnie gave freely of her love and time. She enjoyed cooking big family meals, volunteering at Tri-County Family Ministries, reiki sharing, being at her mountain house with her family, and gardening and tending her fruit trees.
Bonnie was born on May 8, 1947 in Lexington to Jack H. and Mary Belle Foust, who preceded her. She is survived by her husband, George “Mike” Joyner of Folly Beach, S.C.; her children, Tracy Schmidt and her husband, David, Leanna Joyner, and Ian Joyner, all of Asheville; her grandchildren, Maximilian and Grace Schmidt of Asheville; and her two brothers, Steve Foust and his wife, Sharon, of Grovetown, Ga. and Harry Foust of Hephzibah, Ga.
A gathering of friends and family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 21 at Davidson Funeral Home and 2 to 3 p.m. on Monday, September 22 at the church.
