Boyd Brice Allen

Boyd Brice “Barney” Allen, age 84, of Lexington, passed away Thursday March 19th 2013 at Rowan Medical Center, after a period of declining health. A funeral service will be held 12 Noon Friday at Paul’s Chapel United Church of Christ where he was a member, by Rev. Aaron Long; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends at the home after the service. Boyd was born July 22, 1928, in Davidson County to Henry R. Allen Jr. and Myrtle Coppley Allen. He was retired, after 50 years from Conrad and Hinkle Grocery. He was a US Navy veteran and was a member of American Legion Post 8.In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his son Anthony Brice Allen on August 12, 2012; brothers, Hoyt McCoy Allen, George Allen, Harold Allen and sister, Mildred L. Allen. Boyd is survived by: his wife of 64 years, Mittie Ethel Essick Allen of the home; son, Michael Allen and wife Nanette of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Lauren, Casey, and Matthew Allen; sister, Hilda Mae Floyd of Lexington; brother, Charlie Allen of White Pine TN.
