Boyd Edgar Shirley

Boyd Edgar Shirley, age 86 of Shirley Road, Lexington passed away Monday morning September 17, 2018 at his residence.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, September 21, 2018 at Holloways Baptist Church with Rev. Dana Slack and Rev. Craig Barnhill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors by Davidson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 PM in the church fellowship hall, prior to the service and at other times at the home.

Boyd was born June 21, 1932 in Davidson County to William Edgar Shirley and Octavia Greer Shirley. He was a member of Holloways Baptist Church; a retired employee of Stone Container and a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Bowers; his sister, Phoebe Shirley Curry and a nephew, Eddie Curry.

Surviving are his wife, Loretta Thomason Shirley of the home; daughter, Melissa Epley (Kevin) of Lexington; grandchildren, Josh Epley, Megan Epley and fiance’ Charlie Hogston, Jason Bowers (Kyle Ann) and Brett Bowers (fiancee’ Nancy Barron Scarborough); son-in-law, Derek Bowers of Lexington and a niece, Candice Curry.
