Bradley Todd Leonard, 47, of Black Sawmill Road, passed away June 18, 2011 at his home.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, June 21 in the Christian Fellowship Center of Center United Methodist Church, 186 Center Church Road in Welcome, by Rev. Dr. Steve Pillsbury. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday in the Christian Fellowship Center of Center United Methodist Church.
Brad was born January 31, 1964 in Lexington, NC to Max Dean Leonard and Donese Tussey Leonard. On May 12, 1984, he married Linda Black Leonard. Brad was a devoted Christian and active member of Center United Methodist Church. He had a servant’s heart and was loved by all. A natural born leader and dedicated worker, he had served as chair of the Administrative Board, Trustees, and Christian Fellowship Center building and fundraising committees, as well as served on many committees, and taught Sunday School. A licensed general contractor, Brad was president of Brad Leonard Builders, Inc. since 1985. He was known for his high quality custom built homes. He would not leave a job until it was done right. Graduating from North Davidson High School in 1982, he was class president and organized class reunions every 5 years. He was quarterback of the Midway Elementary, North Middle and North High football teams. Brad enjoyed coon hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. His sons knew he was a father-figure and role model to numerous young people. He was always the one who comforted and consoled others, and will be truly missed. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Leonard on November 4, 2005 and by his grandparents, Ida and Harvey Leonard and Lona and Arthur Tussey
He is survived by his parents of Welcome; his loving wife of 27 years, Linda, of the home; his sons, Jordan Bradley Leonard and wife, Whitney, of Welcome and Brandon Black Leonard of the home; his brothers, Kim Leonard and wife, Shirley, of Welcome and Dean Leonard and wife, Teri, of Midway; his father and mother-in law, Reid and Peggy Black of Lexington, and their family; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
