Brenda Jean Funk Ellis, 55, of Lorie Belle Lane, passed away Monday Feb. 22, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by the Revs. Gerald Saunders and Darrell Cartrette. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and at other times at the homes of her sister Sandy on Nottingham Drive in Linwood and sister Cathy on Bentcreek Drive in Lexington.
Brenda was born on Sept. 15, 1954, in Norfolk County, Va., to Eugene T. Funk and Ruth Smith Funk. She was a homemaker and a graduate of Kempville High School. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene T. Funk, one son, Bobby Eugene Allred, and a brother-in-law, Greg Ellis.
Surviving are her husband, Geoffrey Ellis, of the home; her mother, Ruth Smith Funk of Lexington; two sisters, Sandy Raynor and husband Jeff of Linwood and Cathy Wilkerson and husband Ed of Lexington; a stepson, Steven Ellis of Lexington; a grandson, Camren Ellis of Lexington; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary Ruth and Jerry Joe Ellis, both of Lexington. Also surviving are two special nephews, Craig Raynor of Lexington and Corey Raynor of Hawaii, and several aunts and nieces.
