Brenda Sue (Hanes) Forrest, 84, of Lexington, passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Lexington Medical Center after a period of declining health.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Shiloh Church Cemetery.

A native of Davidson County, she was born on January 10, 1942, to the late Early Cleveland Hanes and the late Minnie Walser Hanes. Brenda had a fiery spirit and used her energy to care for her family. She provided care for her late husband, and both of her parents until their passing. Brenda was a loving mother to her son, Keith. She had a green thumb, and loved enjoying God’s creation. It is said that Brenda could grow anything. She was always willing to help anyone in need. A woman of deep faith, she was a member of Shiloh Church of Lexington.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald A. Forrest.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Keith Forrest (Reta); sister, Rebecca “Becky” James; and her extended family members and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Brookstone Senior Living and Lexington Medical Center for the loving and compassionate care provided to Brenda.
