Brenda Manuel Houser, 60, of Augusta Drive, peacefully passed away Sunday, December 17 at Hinkle Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm Saturday, December 23 at First Baptist Church, by the Revs. Dr. Ray Howell III and Tommy Wilson. The service will also be streamed on YouTube and can be accessed on the church website. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Brenda was born November 2, 1963 in Stokes County to James Harry Manuel Sr. and Violet Lee Lillian Williams Manuel. She was a graduate of Campbell University with a degree in Business Administration and Trust Management. She held designations as a CTFA (Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor) and CFP (Certified Financial Planner). She spent her career in banking and was a Vice President and Senior Fiduciary Administrator at Wells-Fargo in Winston-Salem. She was a fierce advocate for the many customers she served over the years, always taking great care to make sure their needs were met. Active in her community, she had served on the Board of Directors for Pastor’s Pantry and Habitat for Humanity.
Brenda was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church. She was a Deacon and served on many different committees. Brenda was always willing to use her organizational skills for major church projects. She used her professional skills in providing fiduciary oversight for the church’s finances. She was a faithful supporter of the Children’s and Youth Ministries.
Brenda was a loyal friend to many. Always inclusive, putting others before herself, and trying so hard to make things just right. She was a loving mother that instilled her traits of grace, hard work, loyalty, and the importance of keeping God close to your heart. She loved her dog Tucker, enjoyed the ocean, and cherished spending time with her friends and family.
Her parents and her sister-in-law, Judy Manuel, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Nathan Houser of the home; her daughter, Tori Houser (Nathan) of Charlotte; her son, Ethan Houser (Cate) of Raleigh; her brother, James Manuel, Jr. of Germanton; and her sister, Ann Allen of Grand Prairie, TX.
