Brenda Mode Koonts

Maggie Brenda Mode Koonts, 76, of William Lane, passed away Monday December 13, 2021 at her home.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with Rev. Larry Scott officiating services. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Koonts was born March 9, 1945 in Cleveland County North Carolina to Burean Alston Mode and Zennie Delphia Hulsey Mode. Brenda was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and in her spare time she enjoyed playing softball and bowling. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Thomas Koonts; two brothers. Albert Mode and Robert Mode; five sisters, Edna Mode, Nancy Mode, Lucille Fulbright, Linda Prince and Jean Anthony; and a grandson Kellen McClamrock.

Surviving is her son, Phillip Koonts of Lexington; two daughters, Tammy Owens (Robert) and Lisa McClamrock, both of Lexington; two brothers, Bill Mode and Charles Mode (Maryann) both of Lexington; two sisters, Ann Wells (Bill) of California and Fredia Phillips (Keith) of Lexington; 4 grandchildren, Maggie Owens, Matthew Owens, Cooper McClamrock and Grayson McClamrock; and numerous numbers of nieces and nephews.
