Brenda VonCannon Lamar, 64, of Fritts Road, died Friday, July 10, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center, after declining health for two months.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2009, at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Revs. Karen Smith and Ray O’Ferrel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Lamar was born March 12, 1945, in Guilford County, to Joseph Edgar VonCannon and Myrtle McDowell VonCannon. She was a seamstress at Tysinger Sewing and Vacuum Center in Asheboro. At her church she was a member of the Choir. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Jason Lamar; and a sister, Becky Clodfelter.
Surviving are her husband, Joel Lamar of the home; son, Mark Lamar and wife, Donna, of Thomasville; stepson, Jerry Lamar of Thomasville; stepdaughters, Kathy Blair and husband, Mark, of Thomasville, and Judy Vaughn and husband, David, of High Point; a grandson, Eli Lamar of Thomasville; and step-grandchildren, Jessica Blair of Thomasville, Justin Vaughn and Travis Vaughn, both of High Point.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church and other times at the home on Fritts Road.
