Brenda Watford Payne, 71, of Robbin Circle, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Hinkle Hospice House following an extended illness.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Chris Lanning and Steve Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter on Old Linwood Road.
Mrs. Payne was born February 9, 1941, in Guilford County, to Reid Watford and Lillian Wray Watford. She was of the Baptist faith. She was an avid Southern Gospel music fan. She was also a supporter of the Humane Society, and the Disabled Veterans. She was a cancer survivor and had many other health issues which never dampened her spirits. We were blessed to have such a stong-willed and loving mother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Payne; and sister, Shirley Rozier.
Surviving are sons, Bruce Payne and wife, Marsha, of Winston-Salem, and Jamie Payne and wife, Amanda, of Lexington; daughters, Tammy Kelly of Lexington and Lori Freedle of High Point; and eight grandchildren, Chris Dow, Kirstin Kelly, Destiny Kelly, James Milsap, Jozie Payne, Austin Rowland, Kaitlyn Payne, and Micah Payne.
