Brenda Church Powers

Brenda Church Powers, 54, of Linwood passed away Friday, June 24, 2016, at her home. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with Rev. Allen Lefler officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at the funeral home. Brenda was born March 26, 1962, in Forsyth County, to Richard Everett & Daphne Swicegood Church. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. She was a caring and sweet person. She graduated from West Davidson High School in 1980. After having her children she went back to school and earned two associates degrees from Rowan Cabbarus Community College in 1994, one a Liberal Arts degree and also her Registered Nursing degree. She served as a Registered nurse for 19 years loving and caring for many patients. Mrs. Powers also volunteered for the Tyro Fire Department Auxiliary and Boy Scout Pack 232 for many years. She was preceded in death by her father. Surviving are her loving husband of 29 years George Levi Powers of the home; sons, Benjamin Powers (Renee) of Lexington, Daniel Powers (Kailee), Jacob Powers, and Joseph Powers, Brian Tuttle of Thomasville and Michael Tuttle (Melissa) of Lexington; daughter, Christina Powers (Bryan ) of Linwood; mother, Daphne Swicegood Church of Lexington; brothers, Mark Church (Michelle) of Lexington, Bruce Church of Arizona; sisters, Karen Simerson (Billy of Lexington, Phyllis Swink (Charles) of Lexington; brothers, Sammy McBride (Sherry) of Darlington, SC; sisters, Rita Faulkner (Lance) of Darlington, SC, Donna Warren (David) of Myrtle Beach and Tywanda Church of Darlington, SC; and nine grandchildren.
