Brenda Gail Zimmerman

Brenda Gail Gobble Zimmerman, 82, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Hinkle Hospice House, after a prolonged illness.

Born on March 3, 1943, to the late Banks and Mozelle Gobble, Brenda devoted her life to her family and those she loved. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother whose warmth and unwavering dedication were felt by all who knew her.

Brenda’s life was full of passion and adventure. She loved traveling the world alongside her husband, showing her halter horses, and caring for her family. Whether she was playing shortstop on the softball field or engaged in a spirited card game, Brenda’s competitive spirit shone brightly—always striving to be number one.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Hiatt and Jewell Nicholson.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 63 years, Phillip Zimmerman; her daughters, Gwen Cook (Daryl) and Anna Wishon (Rodney); and her three cherished grandchildren, Mechim (Liana) Cook, Grayson Cook, and Webb Wishon.

A graveside service to honor Brenda’s well-lived life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, at Mt. Olivet Church Cemetery, with Pastor Rick LeBaube officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Hinkle Hospice House. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
