Brian Michael Hayden Sr., 71, of Lexington, NC, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016. A funeral service will be held at Saint Joseph and Saint Therese Church in New Bedford, MA, with Father Philip Hamel officiating. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington, NC. Mr. Hayden was born February 23, 1945, in Fall River, MA, to Robert Joseph Hayden Jr. and Lauretta (Lynch) Hayden. He was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He served in the United States Army and served two tours in Vietnam. He was a retired member of NALC Branch 51 of Fall River, MA. He was active in volunteer work including Meals on Wheels and served meals to the homeless at Grace Episcopal Church in Lexington, NC. He was also a volunteer at the Davidson County Democratic headquarters. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Joseph Hayden III. Surviving are his wife, P. Suzanne (Hamel) Hayden; sons, Brian Michael Hayden Jr. of Fall River, MA, Sean Patrick Hayden and wife Tyann (Booker) Hayden of Crown Point, IN, Daniel Albert Hayden and wife Holly (McKean) Hayden of West Point, NY, and Michael Finbar Hayden and wife Nichole (Biglin) Hayden of Southern Pines, NC; daughter, Erin Colleen (Hayden) Steenwyk and husband Dirk James Steenwyk of Lexington, NC; 12 grandchildren, Skylar, Dane, Elayna, Jacqueline, Patrick, Diana, Abigail, Bridget, Hannah, William, Ethan and Cara.
