Bruce Bernard Byerley, Sr., 79, a resident of Lexington, passed away August 16, 2021 in his residence. Bruce was born in Davidson County on June 1, 1942 to the late Willie C. and Dorothy “Dot” Byerley. He retired from PPG Industries after 35 years of service. Bruce proudly served in the Army Reserves. On March 7, 1966 he married Margaret Lynn Miller. Bruce enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a woodworker. He was known for his talents for making furniture. Bruce was a great man who loved his family. He was a wonderful father, husband, and friend. Bruce was a member of Second United Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Charles.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 20, 2021 in the Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Jim Luck officiating. Interment will follow the service. There will not be a formal visitation.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret Byerley of the home; sons, Bruce Byerley, Jr. (Rebecca) of Salisbury and Shane Byerley of Lexington; a brother, Dwayne Byerley of Lexington; a sister, Erlene Crotts (Raymond) of Lexington; grandchildren, Cory, Evan , Shana, and Teagan Byerley; a brother-in-law, George Charles; and his cat, Molley.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his nurses: Kathy, Diana, Mary Ann, and Katie for their kindness and excellent care.
