Bruce Dariel Davis, 87, of East Old US Highway 64, died Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at Memorial United Church of Christ, where he was a member, with the Rev. Jamie Kent officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home. Mr. Davis was born February 13, 1926, in Davidson County, to Herman Long Davis and Texie Clodfelter Davis. He was a graduate of Pilot High School. Mr. Davis proudly served in the U.S. Army He was a charter member at his church and a member of Davis Townsend Lions Club, American Legion and Amvets. Mr. Davis had worked for Coble Dairy, Fritts Packing and White Packing and was a salesman for Valley Dale Meat Packer prior to his retirement.. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donese Greer Davis, who died July 23, 2012; brothers, John Davis and Reid Davis; sister-in-law, Lorene Davis. Surviving are sons, Danny Davis and wife Brenda of Statesville, Jimmy Davis and wife Libby and Dr. Mark Davis and wife Summer, all of Lexington; daughter, Teresa Seal and husband Larry of Lexington; grandchildren, Gary Davis and wife Melissa, Chris Davis and wife Misty, Taft Seal and wife Christie, Tori Shaw and husband Bryan, Jamie Young and husband Zak, Joanna Pickett and husband Ben; great-grandchildren, Cullen Davis, Maddie Davis, Leah Davis, Hayden Seal, Breaker Seal, Dylan Shaw, Evan Shaw, Jenna Young, Davis Pickett, Jordyn Young and Jacob Young, Julia Young, and Reagan Pickett; brother, George Davis and wife Helen of High Point; and sister-in-law, Katherine Davis. Memorials may be made to Memorial United Church of Christ, 3806 East Old US Highway 64, Lexington, NC 27292; Davis Townsend Lions Club, C/O Neil Clark, 3114 US Highway 64 East, Lexington, NC 27292; or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
