Bruce Jerrell Everhart, 94, of Friendship Church Rd., Lexington passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Grayson Creek Assisted Living.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 29, 2016 at Good Hope United Methodist Church with Revs. Eric Morphis and Chris Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by Davidson County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am Friday at the church, prior to the service and other times at the home.
Mr. Everhart was born October 16, 1921, in Davidson County, to Walter Everhart and Pauline Beeker Everhart. Bruce played basketball in High School. He retired from the Department of Transportation as a supervisor and later retired from the City of Salisbury as a supervisor. He was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir, was a former treasurer and served in many other capacities of the church. He proudly served his country in the US Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Preceding him in death was three brothers, Glenn Everhart, Charlie Everhart and Jack Everhart
Surviving are his wife, Elsie Hill Everhart loving wife of 74 years of the home; a sister, Althea Hedrick of Welcome.
