Bruce L. Foster, 88, of S. NC Highway 150, died Monday, September 29, 2014, at Piedmont Crossing.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Reeds United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Duncan Martin and Mr. Foster’s sons, the Rev. Gary Foster and Kenny Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014.
Mr. Foster was born December 22, 1925, in Davie County, to Stephen L. Foster and Rossie Tucker Foster. He was the maintenance supervisor for Hanes Hosiery prior to retirement after 30 years of service. Mr. Foster proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was also a member of Reeds American Legion Post 162. He loved fishing, the beach and enjoyed gardening. He had a love for his family, his country and his church where he was very active. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Tucker Foster; and sister, Eula Deane Koontz.
Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Bertie Lanier Foster, of the home; his sons, Gary Foster and wife, Penny, of Lexington, and Kenny Foster and wife, Connie, of Clemmons; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sarah Foster Beeker of Lexington.
