Bruce Greer

Robert Bruce Greer, 86, of Beck’s Church Road, died Thursday, April 9, at Lexington Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2015, at Beck’s Reformed Church by the Rev. James Byers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 12, and other times at the home. Mr. Greer was born August 16, 1928 in Davidson County to Jay Howard Greer and Rosa Allred Greer. He retired from Kepley Frank Hardwood after 30 years of employment and was a member of Beck’s Reformed Church. Mr. Greer was a graduate of Davis Townsend School and proudly served in the US Army. He was one of the founding members of Central Fire Department, and later served as Fire Chief from 1980 to 1987. His daughter, Janet Greer Conner, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Gilda Leonard Greer, of the home; his son in law, R. Horace Conner, Jr. and wife, Kathy, of Lexington; his grandchildren, Richard Horace “Rick” Conner, III and wife, Taylor, of Harrisburg, and Benjamin Jay Conner and wife, Whitney, of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and his great-grandchildren, Callen Wilson Conner, Kendall Lynn Conner and Greer Elizabeth Conner. Memorials may be made to Beck’s Reformed Church, 2845 Beck’s Church Road, Lexington, NC 27292 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
