Bruce Langley

July 16, 1944 — February 7, 2022

Bishop Edward Bruce Langley age 77, of Lexington went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 7, 2022.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Church of God of Prophecy in Lexington with Bishop Gerald Shean and Bishop Jeffery Davis officiating the service.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the church.

Bruce was born July 16, 1944 in Davidson County and was the fourth son of Rev. George Robert Langley and Etta Rose Snyder Langley.  He was a Bishop in the Church of God of Prophecy and held services in nine rest homes in Lexington, Salisbury and T homasville, NC.  He also pastored the COGOP in Salisbury for 14 years before returning to his home church in Lexington.  He continued to witness for the Lord even while in the hospital.  His favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.”  Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Etta Mae Langley Evelyn Langley Bentley (Gary),Mary Lee Langley Stokes (Bill) and brother, Garland Onnie Langley.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judith Gail Stroud Langley, of High Point, two daughters, Angela Langley Peddycord (Danny) and Stephanie Annette Langley Wood (Justin); two grandchildren, Brooke Hunter Fulk (Joseph) and Joe Carl Hunter III (Trey) (Alexis); four great-grandchildren, Mason Cole Hunter, Callahan Reid Hunter, Jack Mahlon Fulk and Emma Grace Fulk; his brothers, George Thomas Langley (Thelma), Bishop Robert Daniel Langley (Rebecca); sister, Margaret Rose Langley Lashley (Gene); his nephew  Gary Marvin Bentley (Judy)who’s mother died when he was around 6, so he grew up with them like a brother;sister-in-law, Paula Langley; brothers-in-law, David A. Stroud (Polly),Steven Craig Stroud (Teresa) and 16 nieces and nephews.
