Bryce Hunt Kearns, 80, of Willis Street, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Health – Lexington Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2013, at Psalm 91 Church, with the Rev. Max Shoaf officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
Mr. Kearns was born October 17, 1933, in Davidson County, to Gurney Kearns and Dorothy Whitaker Kearns. He was retired from Lexington Furniture. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by stepdaughter, Rebecca Williams; brothers, Henry and David; and sisters, Dare, Mackie and Vickie.
Surviving are his loving wife, Dixie Hinkle Kearns, of the home; daughters, Penny Kearns of Winston-Salem; Tracy Potts and husband Tim of Lexington; the mother of his children, Betty Burkhead Kearns of Lexington; stepson, Steve Johnson of Lexington; stepdaughter, Debbie Bates of Welcome; granddaughter, Ashley Potts; great-grandchild, Ashton; four step-grandchildren; six step-great—grandchildren; brothers, GL Kearns and wife Dot, Larry Kearns and wife Cynthia, and Marvin Kearns and wife Katey, all of Lexington; and sisters, Clara Walton, Ina Smith and husband Bryce, both of Lexington, and Patty Marlow and husband Bruce of Holden Beach.
