Everette Hoyle "Bud" Fritts, 83, of Eastside Drive, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2009, at First Reformed United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. Walter Patten officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.
Mr. Fritts was born November 15, 1925, in Davidson County, to Patrick David Fritts and Ola Mae Younts Fritts. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was in the 83rd Infantry Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Fritts was owner and operator of Mercury Marine Center for more than 35 years and was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Fritts and a sister, Helen Craver.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Bailey Fritts of the home; daughter, Ann Hoffman and husband, Walter, of Lexington; his brothers, Donald Fritts, and wife, Pat, and Bobby Fritts and wife, Patricia, both of Lexington; and his sister, Peggy Smith and husband, Richard of Denton.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
