Buddy Charles Kerley Sr.

Buddy Kerley Sr, 78, of Davidson County, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.

A Funeral service will be held the following afternoon at 1:00 PM, Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Journey Church of Lexington, with Pastor Mark Rachels officiating.

Interment will then conclude with the services at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Buddy was born on November 14, 1946, in Davidson County, to the late Mildred Foster Jordan, and was raised by her and his dad, Vernon Jordan.

Many knew him from Kerley’s BBQ, the successful restaurant he and his brother, Jackie, owned and operated. He never knew a stranger and was always quick with giving a warm smile and making new friends.

His family will remember the care and devotion he showed for them which he expressed through his actions by spending quality time, enjoying serving a large Christmas breakfast for his family, and being an integral part of their everyday lives.

He was heavily involved in Journey Church and would go above and beyond to serve others and show the light of Jesus through his attitude and behavior. Buddy truly was the salt of the earth.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

Left to carry on his legacy are his wife loving, Brenda, of the home; son, Buddy Kerley Jr. (Tom), of High Point; daughters, Jennifer Leonard (Jason), of Lexington, Dawn Walser, of Lexington, and Penny Farmer (Junior), of Lexington; brother, Jackie Kerley; sister, Sonja Stiers, of Lexington; grandchildren, Braxton Zachary, Katie Raines (Jake), Baylee Farmer, Gracie Randall (Caleb), Macy Walser, Anna Leonard, Molly Walser, and Madison Leonard; great grandchild, Kaydence Zachary; and precious furbaby and canine companion, Ben.

A visitation will be held at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington, Wednesday, August 20th, 2025, from 6-8 pm. A funeral service to honor Buddy's life will take place on Thursday, August 21st, 2025 starting at 1 pm at the Journey Church of Lexington, with a committal service to follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
