Luther Eugene (Bus) Lingle, Sr., age 88 of Wall Street, Lexington died Tuesday, November 3, 2009 in Northern Surry Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Thursday, November 5, 2009 in DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL with Rev. Luther Lingle, III officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Lingle was born February 26, 1921 in Rowan County to Clarence A. Lingle and Weymar Helms Lingle. Luther was a loving husband for 61 years to Dorothy (Dot) Bradley Lingle, whom he married December 3, 1944. A member of First Lutheran Church, he was owner/operator of Bus’ Typewriter Exchange. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 337, Masonic Lodge 293 and was very involved with the Boy Scouts. He was Committee Chairperson for Troop 213, and helped many to get their Eagle Scout award. Mr. Lingle was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII and was aboard the USS Hutchins. His parents and his wife, Dorothy (Dot) Bradley Lingle preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son, Luther Lingle, Jr of Asheboro, a daughter, Rebeccah White and husband, Eddie of Mt. Airy, NC, a daughter-in-law, Linda Lingle of Asheboro, seven grandchildren, Luther Lingle III, Linden Lingle, Monika White-Priddy, Dee White, Mike White, Austin White, Tiss White, and five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 pm Thursday just prior to the service and other times at their respective homes.
