Butch Dillard

Charles Randall “Butch” Dillard went from the loving arms of Joyce and Michelle, into those of his Heavenly Father on Saturday October 16, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral service for Butch will be held Tuesday October 19, at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Forest United Methodist Church where he was a member, conducted by Rev. Darren Alexander. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 Monday at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel and other times at the residence on Jones Dr. Butch was born October 19, 1948 in Ashe County to Charles Randall Pruitt, and Ruby Dillard Lum. He was a graduate of Winsalm College and was a self employed substance abuse counselor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Addiction Professionals of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father and stepfather Henry Lum. He is survived by his fiancée Joyce Neilson of the home; his mother Ruby Lum of Ashe County N.C.; one daughter Michelle Johnson and husband Phillip of Randelman N.C.; one brother Phillip Lum and wife Chris of Advance N.C.; one sister Tammy Thore and husband Joe of Ashe County N.C.; two granddaughters Jamie and Alecia Johnson; nieces and nephews Olivia and Katie Thore and Atticus and Maxwell Lum; he is also survived by Joyce’s family, Jeff Neilson of Fayetteville, N.C. and Jeremy Neilson of Greensboro, N.C., Ann Moore , and Shannon Davis and her husband Justin and their son Jayden all of Walkertown, N.C., Melissa Dutton and her husband John and their children Lacy and Addie of Clayton, N.C., Chris Walker and wife Lara and their son Owen of Ketchikan Alaska; and his very special Golden Retriever Sir Deacon Dillard.
