Byron Wilkinson

December 6, 1930 — March 11, 2014

Byron Webb Wilkinson, Jr., 83, formerly of Brookgreen Dr., Lexington died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in Lexington Health Care Center.  A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, March 16, 2014 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Kelley Groce officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.  Byron was born December 6, 1930 in Catawba County to Byron Webb Wilkinson, Sr. and Bonnie Beam Wilkinson.  He retired as Director of Personnel from Lexington Furniture Industries after more than forty years of service.  Byron was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church where he sang in the chancel choir and served in numerous lay positions.  He served the larger community by volunteering at the Davidson County Sheltered Workshop, Meals on Wheels, and by lifting his voice for many years in The Lexington Choral Society and the Community Candlelight Choir.  Surviving are his wife, Nancy Thomason Wilkinson of the home; daughter, Barbara Wilkinson of Washington, DC; grandchildren, Colin Lewis, Andrew Lewis, and Erik Asmus; and his sister, Barbara W.
