C. Franklin Stokes

Christopher Franklin “Frank” Stokes, 94, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Linwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles A. Lindquist, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military graveside rites by Davidson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Mr. Stokes was born May 13, 1921 in Davidson County to Eston Crowell Stokes and Zora Smith Stokes. He was a graduate of Jones Business School in High Point and was a member of Linwood United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer for 50 years and also served on the finance committee. Frank was a Charter member of Linwood Lions Club, where he had served as President and Secretary/Treasurer. He was a US Veteran, having served in the Marines. Preceding him in death were his parents, a daughter, Donna Areta Bowen, son-in-law, Joe Bowen, two brothers, Eston Stokes, Leon Stokes, and a sister, Catherine Graham. Surviving are his loving wife of 74 years, Rachel Caroline Fritts Stokes of the home; two grandchildren, Erin Bowen Wheeler (David) and Jennifer Bowen Greanias (George), and five great grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to Linwood United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 82, Linwood, NC 27299
