Calvin "Mayor" Bruff

Calvin “Mayor” Vestal Bruff, age 91, of Lexington passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Hinkle Hospice House.   A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington. Burial will follow at the Lexington City Cemetery with military honors.   The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service.   Mr. Bruff was born in Davidson County on October 10, 1926 to Walter Alfred Bruff and Bonnie Russell Bruff. He was a retired Fireman from the City of Lexington Fire Department, having served 27 years. He was a Veteran of the Navy and a member of the American Legion, Post 8. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Bruff; four brothers; and two sisters.   He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Gail Bruff of the home; two daughters, Linda Foster (Ronnie), and Hilda Dowd all of Lexington, stepdaughter, Marla Medlin and companion Tim Duncan of Jonesville; three grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.   Memorials may be directed to Lexington Community Church at 236 E.
