Carl Wilbur Barnes

Carl Wilbur Barnes, age 98 of Swicegood Road, Linwood passes away Friday (April 2, 2010) at Hinkle Hospice House.  Funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm Monday (April 5, 2010) at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Foster officiating.  Burial will be private.   The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 until 6:30 pm prior to the service and at other times at home of daughter in law, 231 Swicegood Road, Linwood.   Carl was born in Davidson County, January 12, 1912 to Oscar Lester Barnes and Sarah Rowe Barnes.  He was a retired employee of Binning’s Products and a member of Tyro United Methodist Church.  He was preceded in death by his wife Lula Snider Barnes March 5, 1997, his son, Jimmy Barnes, August 22, 2008, brothers, Melver R. Barnes, Oscar LeRoy Barnes and James Dewey Barnes; sisters Edith Koontz and Virginia Sink.   Surviving are; daughter in law, Lorraine Archer of Linwood; two granddaughters, Carlann McCrary and husband Bruce and Wendy Wallace and husband Todd; seven great-grandchildren, Jade, Justin, Whitney and Adam Wallace, Justin, Brittany and Kimberly McCrary; several nieces and nephews.   Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC  27292.     Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
