Carl Daniel Brooks

Carl Daniel Brooks, 85, of Alston Brook Nursing Home, formerly of Grimes Circle, died Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at the nursing home. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at Lexington City Cemetery by the Dr. Gary Gibson. Mr. Brooks was born November 10, 1921, in Gaston County, NC, to Hubert Brooks and Bessie Brooks. He was a truck driver for Hennis Freight Lines and was a member of Open Door Baptist Church. In addition to his parents Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Brooks; stepdaughter, Joyce Azzoline; and two brothers, Kayo Brooks and Haskel Brooks. Surviving are sons, Sparky Brooks and wife, Mickey, Rex Brooks and wife, Shelia, all of Lexington, and Rocky Brooks and wife, Lisa, of Lenoir; stepson, Jerry Cissell of Ft. Myers, Fl.; stepdaughters, Regina Harris of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Gail McCrary of Ft. Myers, Fl.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Rex Brooks, 704 Albert Drive, Lexington.
