Mr. Carl Pless Swicegood, 87, formerly of Helmstetler Road, died Monday, March 17 at Carolina House of Lexington.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday from the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Sanford, and grandsons, Robby Rummage and Shannon Rummageofficiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of his daughter, Wanda Rummage, 708 Helmstetler Road, Lexington.
Mr. Swicegood was born July 19, 1926 in Davidson County to Cicero Leander Swicegood and Essie Lenora Shoaf Swicegood. He worked for Coble Dairy, Road Ranger Truck Stop, Sapona Golf Course, Thousand Trails Campground, he was a farmer and a member of Westside Baptist Church. He faithfully served his country during World War II in the US Army. His parents; wife, Jane Eller Swicegood; son, Kenny Swicegood; sisters, Elsie Michael, Susan Gurley and Troy Caudle; and brothers, Luther and Junie Swicegood preceded him in death.
He is survived by two daughters, Wanda Rummage and husband, Ronnie, and Carla Sanow and husband, Don, all of Lexington; two sons, Flynn Swicegood and wife Shirley and Vincent “Vince” Swicegood and wife Linda, all of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Kendra Miller, Angie Dorsett. Shannon Rummage, Robby Rummage, Sherlyn Thomason, Jeremy Swicegood, Natasha Swicegood, Damon James and Holly James; nine great-grandchildren, Mackenlea Miller, Mason Miller, Kayden Dorsett, Kyle Rummage, Ethan Rummage, Kailyn Rummage, Ella Rummage, Trinity Thomason and Katelyn Swicegood; sister, Lenora Jackson his special companion, Little Bit.
