Carlos Whitley, 81, of Greentree Drive, died Wednesday night, July 30, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 2, at First Baptist Church of Welcome, where he was a member, by the Rev. Mark Blair. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Whitley was born June 1, 1927, in Forsyth County, to Rova Bruce Whitley and Halie Fulp Whitley. He was retired from Proctor and Schwartz. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 55 in Winston Salem. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Ramer Whitley and Rova Bruce Whitley Jr.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ladusau Whitley, of the home; a son, Anthony N. Whitley of the home; a daughter, Carla White and husband, Steve, of Midway; two grandchildren, Amanda White Berrier and husband, Steve, and Sandra White Burrow and husband, Cody; four great-grandchildren, Kira and Hunter Berrier and Jillianne and Luke Burrow; a sister, Doris Hagerman and husband, Leo of Wallburg; and beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight (Friday, Aug. 1, 2008) at Davidson Funeral Home.
