Carlton “Nit” Keith Burkhart, age 79 of Woodlawn Drive, Lexington passed away Friday (Sept. 4, 2009) at Brian Center of Lexington. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday (Sept. 6, 2009) with Rev. Don Leonard officiating.
Nit was born in Davidson County, October 4, 1929 to Alvah Harlan Burkhart and Lillie MaeDuffey Burkhart. He was a member of Memorial United Church of Christ, a veteran of the US Army, having served in the Korean War. He was retired from The Dispatch, advertising department and the Lexington Police Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Vernon, Harold and Alvah “June” Burkhart.
He is survived by: his wife, Anne Miller Burkhart of the home; two sons, Keith Burkhart and wife Jennifer of Winston Salem, and Scott Streetman of Lexington; two grandchildren, Gabriel and Baylan Burkhart and a God child, Nicholas Whisnant of Lexington.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home following the service on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be directed to Memorial United Church of Christ, 3806 East Old Highway 64, Lexington, NC 27292.
