Carol Sue Wilson Clanton, 65 of Myers Drive passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009 at her home after 5 years of declining health.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday at Pilgrim Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. James Messer and Rev. Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Clanton was born on March 15, 1943 in Boone, West Virginia to Albert Wilson and America (Mary) Blevins Wilson. She was a member of Pilgrim Freewill Baptist Church. She was a housewife and a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Clanton was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wilson and a sister, Ethel Kennedy.
Surviving are her husband, Mack Wilford Clanton of the home. Also surviving are sons Steven R. Vance of Lexington, Tim Vance and wife, Melissa of New Jersey, and Cliff Clanton of Fayetteville, Jonathan Canady and wife, Melissa of Denton; daughters Alice Honeycutt and husband, Bob, Tammy Hayes and husband, Tony, Joyce Bell and friend, Sam Davis, and Shawna Leath and husband, Billy, Amanda Canady all of Lexington; 21 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; sisters Georgia Vaughan of Mt. Morris, Michigan and Ernestine Hensley of Logan, West Virginia.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Sunday and other times at the home.
